I find the new piano keys too small. They are shorter and the white keys are narrower.I can set the range, but the on-screen keyboard doesn't resize accordingly, so with fewer keys, each key becomes larger. This adjustment would be especially helpful when I use the app solely with the mouse, which is usually the case. When there are fewer keys, I just randomize more often.

I dont know if this is possible, but I would love it if Rando could read RX2 files, as I have 100,000s of them in my library. These are of course sliced audio files which are read natively by a few DAWs and plugins, but many do not. Is this a “pie in the sky” hope, or maybe possible? Thank you again for the fantastic 2.5 update to Rando!!!!

It would be nice to have a special category in the categories filters for “uncategorized” samples that have no category tags- this would let you find/hide them in a manner similar to PIANO, SYNTH PAD, etc.

In normal mode, holding shift when adjusting a parameter changes it for all samples. Could we have the same(/inverse) when in super mode, to adjust individual sample parameters on the fly without switching modes?

I just renamed some of my sample folders, and Rando doesn’t recognize them anymore. It would be nice if we could just choose the new location for renamed/moved folders, instead of having to remove them and re-import. Especially with the new advanced scanning, which seems to take some time to redo.

In the bottom section where theres chromatic mode/ Slice mode/Normal mode/ I would love to see a velocity mode. Similar to like having an MPC where you could have 16 levels of velocity for a selected sound. That would be cool to have.

Hi,I am not sure whether this is feature request or just not enough understanding the concept of “move locked to the left” command. My way of using rando is:a/ i randomize samples i find what i like, i lock it, move it to the left, I record somethingb/ then i randomize again find other useful samples, locked them, move them to the leftand here lies the problem, the order of samples changes, randomly is ordering them in some way. For my use case it would be more usefull to pile those “newly locked and moved to the left samples” next to those already sitting in the lef part of my keyboard. Now it is making chaos in what i recorded before…Is it intended behaviour or am I missing something?

Rando 2 Not Working in Mono

My Rando sample database is currently more than 1.6 million one-shots and loops. I assume majority of people won’t have collections that large, but some of us drawn to software like rando will. It’s actually tools like this that made me start collecting a lot more samples because it unlocks the ability to easily discover and utilize sounds from a large local library.Anyway, rando performs as well or better than other sample library tools, but wanted to share a few observations that might be useful for optimizing rando for large sample collections.#1 - It appears one of the first things rando does when it is opened is to check if there are any new samples found in the set sample locations, before the GUI even appears. I timed it with a stopwatch. If there are no new files found that rando doesn’t know about already, it currently takes about 10 seconds on my machine before the GUI appears and if there are a bunch of new samples in folders, it takes even longer. Last timed 50 seconds before the rando GUI is finally displayed on the screen when I had added a bunch of samples to my folders. No loading indicator, just nothing happens on screen for that long.People with fewer files and folders probably won’t have that extreme of a delay, but my suggestion is perhaps that new file check that occurs can be set to not take place on opening the plugin and instead be initiated manually when going to the sample locations settings area.#2 - The search settings area will total up the number of results from whatever filters are set. But even if no search filters are set, it will still query the total of all samples present in the whole database every time. That total is fixed and doesn’t change until new samples are added or removed, so it could be optimized to just store that big total of all samples somewhere instead of querying that number every time.For 1,651,890 results, it takes about 15-20 seconds for the search page to return that number back from the database.

Compared to the previous release, sample folders are taking considerably longer to scan and load in this beta. Previously, adding folders completed within a few minutes. Currently, the loading process is still ongoing while typing this report.

Theres needs to be an ability to choose what specific folder in a folder you want to randomize. For instance. One producer kits has like 12 different volumes . Adding all those folders will crowd the location area .. There has to be a way OR maybe give us a way to rename folders for Rando. If I got 12 different folders labeled Kicks I’ll add them but I need to know which kick folder it’s from . I don’t know maybe i’m just rambling. But there has to be a way to access sub folders because Category isn’t working it actually zeros out the actual search of what I select.

Auto Find start is not working

SThe typical macOS “About” menu for an app item is missing. This was an observation with the previous official release of Rando 2.I don’t see any other way to tell I have 2.0.6 installed from within the interface of the app; I have to use Get Info in the finder.Sometimes a developer will put the software release info in the UI itself (AAS Player, for example) - but either way, it would be helpful to have when that information is needed.

As I understand it, the meaning of the second toggle state for the Categories filter, showing the category box as an outline with strike-through text, is to filter out or exclude samples tagged with that categoryFor consistency it would be nice if the…. should be consistent for the Location, Sample Type and Type toggles behaved in a consistent manner… clicking it once to include and a second time to filter / exclude the criteria. This would simplify, for example, excluding one location … instead of explicitly selecting all the locations except the one to be excluded, the excluded location toggle can be clicked twice to the filter it out explicitly.
